SOME RECENT 'MEETINGS
MANCHESTER UNITY ODD FELLOWS.
Loyal Britannia Lodge.—The quarterly meeting was presided over by Bro. Wood, Noble Grand. There was a large attendance. One new member was initiated and sick payments authorised. The business on the agenda psper tor the district conference was dissussed and disposed of. Delegates for the conference wefce elected 'as follows:— Bros. Wickens, Treadwell, Williams, and Brown. The retiring auditor, Bro. Turner, and retiring members of the management committee (Bros. Turner, Park and Edgar) were re-elected. Bros. Wickens. Treadwell, and Levy were appointed to' the social committee. Lodge honours were accorded visiting members,, including the Grand Master of the Order in New Zealand (Bro. A. C. Blair), the Grand Secretary (Bro. Shrimpton), and members from Sister Wallis, Ashburton,-Howard, and Antipodean Lodges. , -Loyal ■ Kilbirnie Lodge.—Bro. L. H. Arcus, acting Noble Grand, presided. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. Bro. C. O. Jorgensen was elected as delegate to the district conference, and Bro. W. Courtenay was elected delegate to the annual meeting of the .Hospital Association. Sick stewards' reports were received ana sick pay authorised. Antipodean Lpagc notified that a date had been fixed for the contest for the Cropp Buttons m the bowls tournament. A challenge for the Telford Cup was received from Newtown Lodge and was accepted. Bro. R Wickens, o£J3ritannia Lodge, was elected an honorary member. Bro. J. S Donaldson of Ashburlon Lodge was accorded lodge honours. Bro. Donaldson replied and gave some interesting information -regarding the activities of lodges in his district. Business. concluded, members spent the remainder of the evening in playing cards. Loyal Hose of Valley Juvenile Lodge. —The first meeting of the year was presided over by Sister Dora Burns,; and was well attended. Two new members were admitted. Sister Audrey .Wilson, immediate past president, giving the obligation. The superintendent advised that at the conclusion of next meeting the members who were to have given items at the Christmas tree function would give their items, and prizes would be allotted. Parents were invited to attend. It was stated that efforts were to be made to procure.further library books. One of the Juvenile sisters volunteered to act as pianist during the ensuing term. It was stated that a lodge orchestra may later be f°Loyai Wellington Past Grands' Lodge -At the last meeting the election of officers for the ensuing twelve months resulted as follows:—President Bro. A. J.B. Foote (Petone Lodge); vice-presi-dent, Bro. F. A. Davis (Combination Lodge); warden, Bro. Ross Foote (PetoneTLodge); guardian, Bro. Withy (Britannia Lodge). The election of a secretary resulted in Bro. Wickens (Britannia Lodge) being placed in the Position. The selection of judges for the ritual contests in 1937 was left m abeyance.
