GOOD EWES DEARER

• -The' Feilding stock sale on Friday featured a heavy yarding of breeding ewes and lambs.

Dalgety and Company, Limited,- report that two-tooth ewes were penned in fair numbers and comprised useful sheep with several lines ot good quality. Competition was stronger and tnere was a sound sale, with a recovery in, price on sales earlier in the week. Mr. A. S. Browni'Pakihikura, sold 212 at 48s 2d, an<} Mr. J. A. T. Brown, Sandon Block, 193 'at 425. Both' lots were early shorn and had size and breeding. Full-mouth ewes met a better demand for lines with teeth, prices being definitely stronger. Aged | sorts'were again: plentiful, with little demand, many lots-being bought for fattening. Store lambs of all classes were in demand, especially forward lots, prices being firm. Cull lambs were easier.-A medium offering of fat sheep sold to a quiet demand with little change in price.

Beef cattle met a fair, sale, finished quality selling to recent rates. Store cattle comprised store dairy cows and young heifers. A fair sale for useful lines.

STRONGER MARKET. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report a heavy yarding, the entry in the main being comprised of 2-tooth and 4-and 5-year ewes.i Just odd pens of genuine 4- and 5-year ewes came forward, the balance of the yarding in this section being of a doubtful nature. Nevertheless, there was a strong market for both 2-tooth and 4- and 5-year ewes than was the case at the .first ewe fair. One outstanding pen of aged marked 5-year ewes, offered on account of Mr. Arnold Bartlett,- of Kimbolton, sold freely, realising the.good price of 30s. Four-year,ewes on account of the same vender realised 31s 3d. Another good' line of 4- and syear hill ewes offered on account of Mr. Herbert Brown, of Pakihikura. realised 30s. Lambs of all classes also sold readily at fully up to late rates. A fair yarding of fat sheep came' forward,' the market being hardly as strong 'as. has been: the case over the last few. weeks. .

FAT SHEEP IN OVER-SUPPLY. The New Zealand Farmers' Co-op. Distributing Co:, .Ltd., report that a heavy yarding of all classes of Sheep came forward. In the fat sheep section tHe market wasl over-supplied and prices w,ere hardly up to late rates. The demand for breeding ewes was keen, »nd in the aged-class the sale .was more animated than was the ewe fair f values being from 2s to 3s higher. The sale of two-tooth ewes-was in and out, but on the whole prices were maintained. The demand was good for better class shorn lambs with prices firm—poorer sorts were hard, to quit. A heavy offering of potter cows was keenly competed for at increased prices. The beef entry,was confined to dairy sorts, and here again, the sale was firm throughout. No run cattle were on offer.

Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., report:—We held our weekly sale at Carterton on Friday when we offered a big yarding to a good attendance. The ewe entry comprised chiefly aged ewes, and ,the demand was very restricted for these. Good lambs sold-at late rates, but small lambs met with a weaker market. There were considerably too many of the latter class of lamb' yarded for the demand. Cattle sold well, the inquiry for'fat and forward cows being strong. Springers met with a good sale. Porkers and baconers sold well, while weaners were easier. .
