ASHES OF EX-MAYOR

SERVICE AT BIRKENHEAD

AUCKLAND February 25.

The late Mr. Ernest G. Skeates, who was Mayor, of Birkenhead from 1925 to 1929, and whose death occurred in London in 1935, expressed a wish that his ashes should be deposited in the civic ■'reserve at Birkenhead. The family in Auckland has now received the urn and arrangements have been made to hold a service in the civic reserve for .the disposal of the ashes.
