CHILDREN'S PLAYERS

ENTHUSIASTIC AUDIENCE

The Children's Players presented three one-act plays in the Blue Triangle Hall on Saturday afternoon. There was a large audience, comprising grownups as well as children. Each play was very attractively staged, and the performances evoked enthusiastic applause. Miss E. B. Page (secretary), and Mr. A. S. Farquhar (director) were congratulated on the-great success of the venture, and the hope was expressed that the performance which the society is considering staging in the Hutt for the benefit of the Hutt Valley school children will eventuate.

The first play was produced by Madame Rosina Bligh. It was charming comedy for children, "Down the Crocus Tunnel," by John Bourne. Those who took part were Sylvia Hall, Kathleen Wilson, Francois de Mauny, Nona McLean, Berenice Burgess, Mary Annette Burgess, Barbara McCartney, June Rid.ge,. Nancy Gilver, Elaine Worth, Judith Ashby, Michael Siegel, Robin Caldwell, lan Telford, Teddy and Ken Clements, Nina Jesson, Vivienne Jesson, Anne Gavy, Mary Silver, Judith Mills, David Tennent, Peter Kronfeld, Tony-Kronfeld, Peter Barton-Ginger, John Pearce, Jill Garlick, Joan Harris, Pamela Barton-Ginger, Beverley Gruar, Anne Telford, Valeric Heald, and Marjorie McCune. " . .

An amusing pirate story by A. A. Milne, "Oliver's Island," was the second presentation. Miss Catherine Keddell was the producer, and the players were Keith Dudson, Eric North, Nellie E. Donovan, Leila Farquhar, Irene Spidy, W. Burnett Ross; Walter Boyd, Alan Bruce,.Frank Hill, Ray Hill, Ronald Rashbrooke, Jack Chiltenden, Dick Norton-Taylor, Ena Bell, Alan Howard and Peter Sellers.

"The Crimson Coconut," by lan Hay, was the third play, and Miss Iris Austin aiid'Mr. W. J. Mountjoy, jun., were; the producers. Those who took part were Harry Painter, Len Crothers, Robert Cheyne, Kathleen Farquhar, Zenocrate Mountjoy s and Warren Toogood. . ~ .
