CAR THIEF ACTIVE
CASES IN SOUTH ISLAND
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
TIMARU, June 30.
A car thief is operating on a grand scale in the South Island. On Monday, a car stolen at Ashburton was found abandoned later in the outskirts of Timaru; in the evening a car was stolen at Timaru and today was found abandoned in a damaged condition at Herbert, south of Oamam. A short time later a Herbert resident reported his car stolen. The thefts are too close to be a coincidence, and the police are satisfied that the thefts are the work of the same person.
