The Boys' Institute. Ladies' Auxiliary held its'annual 'meeting', in the, institute • building,-Tasman -Street, Mrs. J. Hislop occupying the chair.The -.report. ~...statev d that with a, revival of trade demands for admission to the home.became so numerous that not only had the accommodation been, taxed to its full capacity but there had also been a number of boys awaiting.', admission."; Although work had been.' more:; plentiful'1 and there had been . few. cases.', of .unemployment throughout .tl}e. year, wages remained low. with the result that the average amount paid by the'boys for board did not exceed 10s per week, and when it was considered that for; this .'sum was provided ' comfortable accommodation, good: board, washing and ironing, mending and darning; nursing, and the use of the institute recreational facilities, it would;' be readily understood that a financial.loss was inevitable.
