WELLINGTON SOCIETY;
A good muster of. members of the Wellington Horticultural Society paid their annual visit to Messrs. A. J. Shailer and Sons' nursery at Palmerston North last Sunday. The provision of reserved carriages by the Railway Department made the train journey more comfortable and sociable, and, after a good dinner on arrival at Palmerstori North, a special bus transported the visitors to the nursery. AlthiWgh the heavy gale last month had caused severe damage to the dahlias, many fine blooms were on view and the visitors had an opportunity of inspecting their, favourites and this season's novelties at their best. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs.and Miss Shailer and their willing assistants. , „ *• A vote of thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Shailer and their family and assistants was conveyed by the secretary, Mr. G. S. Nicoll, who apologised for the unI avoidable absence of the president, Mrs. Knox Gilmer. The return journey was enlivened by musical efforts by members and everyone agreed that the outing had been most enjoyable.
