BARTER AGREEMENTS
MENACE TO WOOL TRADE
POSITION OF GERMANY
(Received Februaryll2, 1 p.m.) LONDON, 'February 11. Mr..Dudley Ackroyd, presiding at a meeting of the Bradford Chamber of Commerce, described wool barter agreements as a menace to the trade. They were especially serious in the case of Germany, whose agreement with South Africa had been renewed, while similar agreements had been made with South America and certain European countries. Germany's trade was assisted by currency manipulations amounting to an export subsidy, and there were complaints from many quarters of German goods being offered in those markets below the works costs.
