. PARIS, December 18. \ M. Herriot has resigned the leadership of the powerful Radical Socialist Party following a stormy meeting of the party executive in which the peace proposals were bitterly criticised. M. Laval was violently attacked. M. Herriot complained' that the attacks affected him as a member of Cabinet. He defended M. Laval, saying: "His one aim was to preserve peace."
