STABLE'S FOURTH SUCCESS
> With the wind still blowing the right way, Laughing Lass was able to. provide L. G. Morris's stable with its fourth win lor the day in the Oroua Nursery .Handicap. It was also' the third for the stable's leading patron, Mr. T. A. Duncan, for whom Laughing Lass's success would be very gratifying, as the filly is the first of the Quan-. tock horse Laughing Prince's stock to succeed. Laughing Prince, who was a very successful performer , for Mr. Duncan, has his first representatives racing 'this season. Laughing Lass, improved with her race on the opening day, reproduced the brilliance she had given promise of possessing on Saturday and then withstood all challenges. At the end of a furlong she got up along the fence "to take control from Mirth, Mazzini, and Karl, and, opening up a break, she was well clear at the straight entrance. Karl, Wagner, and Deficit all lodged claims, but they could not reach the filly, who scored by half a length. Laughing Lass is a roan daughter of Night Out, who was by Lord Quex from the.Feramorz mare Frosty Morn, the dam • also of Staghorn and East Cape, whom Mr. Kemball has raced in Victoria. Night Out, who never raced, was acquired by Mr. Duncan from the Flaxmere Stud when it was dispersed. Laughing Lass was having her first racing at this meeting. She has brilliant pace, and the slight greenness she showe4 when' out. in front will soon be corrected. Karl ran another good race, but was not up to conceding 121b to the winhe*, who carried 41b overweight. Wagner, having his first race, was finishing ;6n: only a head away third, and Deficit, on the rail, was a close fourth. Larwpod, Mirth, and Mazzini were best of the remainder. •
