CLOSE FINISH IN SPRINT
■ Only--five horses paraded for the Coly ton Handicap/ but! there was an exhilarating finish between two of them, the favourites Courtega and Limulus, who- ran home in the reverse order of their selection, Limulus winning by a short head. The success was the third during the day for L. G. Morris's stable and the second for Mr. T. A. Duncan.
Lirhulus was smartly away from a moving start, but Royal Routine soon passed her, and a little later False Scent ran up on the outer of the pair, with Courtega just behind on the fence. At the distance Royal Routine began to weaken, leaving Limulus in charge, but Courtega then came up on her inner in challenge, and in a battling finish Limulus responded sufficiently well just to withstand the favourite. Courtega had an excellent opportunity'when presented with the opening, but she was not' quite, able to take advantage of the chance, and the winner, was doing the better right on the post, Royal Routine was a moderate third four lengths away, with Good Hunting and False Scent at intervals.
