BOARD AND SPEAKERS
The arrangements ciade by the "Evening Post" for ;he display and the announcement of results this evening, as they come to hand, will enable the public to keep in close touch with the latest developments. On the large election board which has been erected returns from each electorate throughout New Zealand will be displayed, while for the Wellington city and Hutt seats, details of the voting at {he booths will also be shown.
The booths close at 7 p.m., and it is expected that the first returns for the local seats will be received shortly after that hour. It is anticipated that Wellington lir.ai results will be known between 0 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. The election board will also show a summary of the state of the political parties, and the progress oi the national licensing vote, as well as the local voting.
In addition to the posting up of returns, results will .be announced as they come to hand through a public address loud-speaker system, installed for the occasion, it; that those pn the fringe pi the orowd '.uisbli; to view the entire 'board -.vill be at no disadvantage.
The Prime Minister Uke El. Hon. G. W. Forbes), who .■irrived in "Wellington from the south this r.ioMing, and other party '.leaders have been invited to speak from ihs "Evening Post" balcony, as well as local candidates, and their addresses will be made clearly audible io the crowd.
The public are notified that as tha office f.elephones will be fully engaged for staff use, no inquiries for election results can be answered, and it is requested that no telephone calls shall be made.
At Lower Hutt and Fetone, by loudspeakers connected with the public address system nt the "Evening Post," electors will be able to hear the whole of the election results, including the detailed results of the Hutt electorate, immediately they are available. .'.t Lower Hutt the speakers will be in Feist's Building, facing High Street, and listeners will be able to stand on the old bridge approach and on the bridge itself. At Petone speakers will direct the sound from the "Evening Post" building up Sydney Street north, and Fitzherbert Street north. The public are requested not to block traffic in Jafkson Street. The two candidates will speak through the system at both Lower Hutt and Petone. and later from Wellnigton.
