"They are quite good speakers, most of them, and they come before the working men and women and dilate on the hardships they have suffered until one almost wants to weep with them. They play on the emotions—they do not play on the reason and intellect—they play on the emotions and get away with it. ...
"I have just shown you the hypocrisy of the Labour Party. iThey are trying to run with the hares and hunt with the hounds; they want to get the votes of the working men and they want the votes of the farmers, yet they have to get money from the vested interests to pay their way. And the man who pays the piper calls the tune."-
