WHIPPET RACING
Another large attendance of the public witnessed a very flue whippet race meeting at Waiwetu during the weekend. Excellent fields and racing were put on by the combined Port Nicholson and Hutt Valley Whippet Racing Clubs. The Waiwetu track is a favourite spot with whippet followers, and the sport is going ahead rapidly. The results were as follows:— Nursery Handicap.—Native Queen, 1, Native Lady. ,2. There were seven starters. Puppy Race.—Super Tax, 1; Great Barry,.2. There were six starters. Improvers' Handicap.—Golden King, 20yds (Jones),-1; Old Gold, 20yds (Hanson), 2. There were twelve starters. Waiwetu Handicap.—Sans dOr, 20yds (Leader), 1; El Dorado, 19?, yds (Moody), 2. There were sixteen starters. Second-class, Handicap.—King cf Spades, 19yds (Lovett) 1; Marie, 19J yards (Handley), 2. There were twelve starters. Lightweight Handicap.—Minatone, ?.O yards (Tripp), 1; Sweet "Nell, 20yds (O'Halloran), 2. Farewell Handicap.—El Kino, 17yds (Nicholas), 1; Joie de-VaL 18yds (Keat), 2. There were fourteen starters. Hurdles Race.—White Fl3sh (Magee), 1; Prospector (Leader), 2.
