LOWER HUTT CLUB
Mr. J. N. Millard, who presided over Hie annual general meeting of the Lower Hutt Amateur Athletic Club, expressed his concern at the apathy of Hutt people towards athletics. The club's meetings last year, he said, received little public support.Two officers, Mr. J. A. Peterson, secretary and Mr. H. R. Julian, delegate to the Wellington Centre, resigned their positions owing to pressure of business. The meeting carried hearty votes of thanks to the retiring officers, and, as a tribute to Mr. Peterson's work during the past four years, it was decided to place his services on record. Mr. B. Matthews offered a trophy for any purpose the committee might thin is fit. The meeting accorded Mr. .-Matthews a vote, of ■ thanks for his generosity.
; A recommendation was made to the incoming, committee to consider the question of abandoning the weekly club meetings and endeavour to work in with the city clubs by conducting open meetings at frequent intervals, '« The election of officers resulted" — Patron, Mr. Walter Nash, M.P.; president, Mr. J.
