DR. E. MARSDEN, C.B.E.

Dr. E. Marsden, C.8.E., is secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. He was born in Lancashire in 1889 and received his higher education at the Universities of Manchester and London. He came to Wellington in 1914, and a year later ■was appointed professor of physics at Victoria University College, a position which he held until 1922. From 1922 to 1926 he was assistant Director of Education, and was then appointed to his present position. He saw service in the Great War and was mentioned in dispatches twice, receiving the decoration of M.C.
