SYDNEY, April 21.
A protest' against Hall Mark, winner of the Doncaster Handicap, at the A.J.C. Meeting, was lodged by H. England, trainer of High, for alleged interference in the straight, the complaint being that Hall Mark attempted to savage High in the struggle to the post.
Voitre was censured for not keeping a straight course, and the protest was dismissed.
Voitre stated after the race that Hair Mark had not interfered with High. He1 had merely lunged towards High, but he managed to pull him back again. Voitre 'declared that at this stage of the race he would not have given High a 1000 to 1 chance of winning, and but for this incident Hall Mark' would have won by at least a length.
The trainer, England, on the other hand, was bitterly disappointed, as the jockey Cook told him that High had the race won when Hall Mark attempted to savage him, which caused High to stumble and lose his balance 30 yards from home.
When the protest was dismissed there was a great cheer from all quarters. • ! •
The jockey Davidson stated that his mount Arachne was blocked for nearly the whole distance by- High.
Sunday, newspapers feature the sensational finishes, in the Autumn Plate and Doncaster Handicap.
