MELROSE TRANSPORT
Melrose people, said Councillor-It:'Sem-ple, M.P., at last night's meeting of the City Council, were much concerned' at tho inadequate transport arrangements to and from their district, and wished to tell their story to tho council by means of a deputation. Councillor W. Appleton thought the whole matter could we!! be dealt with' by representations to the tramways commiitee, which was considering the question, of buses. The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) thought it would help more if the deputation discussed the matters round the table with the tramways committee .although the council had not the least objection to hearing n deputation. Councillor. P. Frnser, M.P., suggested that if the Meirose delegation was not satisfied with the tramways committee's decision at a conference, they should then come before the council. Councillor J. Burns said that he understood that the majority1- of the. Jlelrose people were in favour of trams, for which a loan was. raised many, years ago, .and did not want buses. It was decided that the deputation should first be'heard by the tramways committee, and if they then wished to
