LAUCHLAN CUP MATCH

The annual cricket match between teams representing the Christchurch and 'Wellington tramways was commenced at Kilbirnie this morning. Wellington batted first and the score at 2.30 p.rcu was 129 for nine wickets (Elliott 36 not "out, J. Tilyaid 28, Walters 16, Lloyd 11, Noot 10). Bowling for Christchurch Cook took three wickets for 23 rnns; Alexander two for 28, Commons two for 27, Smith one for 13, Dauson. one for 20. / OLD BOYS' MATCH By the permission of Mr. C. H. Skelley cricket teams representing Christ's, College Old Boys and Nelson College, Old Boys had a very enjoyable match at Croydon, Day's 'Bay, during the weekend. The result, after a well-fought game, was a win for Nelson by 4 runs. Christ's, batting first, * scored 220 runs. C. G. Hamilton 80, including {wo 6's and nine 4's, R. A.- Whyte 51, including two 6's.and five ..4's, and Tripe 46, were the principal scorers. J. Fay was the most successful Nelson bowler, . securing eight wicket's for 63 runs. I Nelson replied > with 224, for which IW. F. Airey 84, including six 6's and | eight 4's, J. Fay 50 not out, and R. A. Buddie 32, were mainly responsible. R. A. Whyte, forsaking his usual position, was the mainstay of Christ's bowling, taking five wickets for 47 runs.
