WOMEN'S MATCH
TOURISTS ARRIVE TONIGHT Though it was expected the English women's cricket team, which is to play against Wellington at the Basin Reserve tomorrow, would arrive here shortly after 1 o'clock today from Wanganui, ,it was discovered _ this afternoon that the team was coming down by the New Plymouth express, and consequently would arrive at Thorndon Station about 6 o'clock tonight. Officials of the Wellington Ladies' Cricket Association, as well as representatives" of the Wellington Cricket Association, waited at the Grand Hotel .for over an hour this afternoon before advice was received lof the change in plans. A motor tour of the sea front had been arranged for this afternoon, but, of course, it had to be abandoned. Tonight both teams will attend the State Theatre.in an informal party.
Should the unlikely happen and rain prevent play tomorrow, the.tourists will probably'postpone for one night their departure to the South Island, enabling the Wellington fixture to take place on Wednesday. Failing that arrangement, the match may be played at the end of the tour, since the Test match against New Zealand at Christchurch is to be concluded on February 18, and the team is not scheduled to leave Wellington until February 23.
