A very successful bridge party "for tho inn-pose of raising money for R.S.A; Christmas Cheer was held at the it.S.A. rooms, when the hostesses were Mesdames h\ McDonald and A, Cowles. Among those who arranged tables wert Mesdames Avery, Spence, Croker, HayBarkley, Dawson; Healy, Baigent, Pirie, Browell, Brandon, Coad, Searle, Drayion, Chirnside, Laing, i\ White, Hogan, Marris, Misses Kennedy and Baine, and Messrs. Bced and Miles. Tho highest number prizo was won by Mr. Metcalfe, and the hidden number prizes by Mrs. Drayton and Miss Kennedy. An energetic band of helpers consisted of Mesdames Orsborn, Eteveneaux, Hill, C/ McDonald, and Misses Howard and Drake.. The effort resulted in a subs^nti'al addition" to the fund. Tho Homowood Gardens; Mr. and Mis. 13. Suthciland hare again shown their wonderful kindness 'in helping good causes by the loan ot tliuir lovely gardens and conservatories for a garden parly, to be held for the benefit of the Y.VV C.A, v» Saturday, December 8. A smulJ cliuigo will be made for entrance ty. the grounds, and those who have not already seen these wonderfully beautiful flowers, ferneries, aviaries, and fish-ponds will bo wise to take the opportunity so kindly offered. The work of the Y.WX.A. is so well known, thai it ueeds little ex planation, but thi-re are many girJs in Wellington who would be greatly regretful if this k'iudJy and comfortable meeting place was not available for U,em.
