UNSETTLED WEATHER
SOUTHERLY CHANGE COMING
Special forecast for Wellington:—
Strong northerly winds changing to southerlies tonight. Weather dull, wet, and niisty, with heavy showers at times. Hail likely following southerly change. The general forecast issued at noon today is for strong northerly winds to tho north of Westport and Akaroa. Moderate to strong and increasing southerlies may bo expected southward of those points, and southerlies will become general by tomorrow morning. Tho weather will still bo unsettled with further rain, falls being Jicavy in places. Temperatures will become cold, with snow on tho ranges and with hail on parts of the coast. Tho depression referred to' yesterday is now crossing the Dominion, and in tho far south a southerly change was in evidence this morning. Elsewhere moderate to strong northerly winds arc still prevailing. Tho weather has been unsettled generally, with widespread rain. On the East Coast south of GisboiMie, however, there have been only .a few scattered showers. Falls have been heavy in many places from Taranaki southward, Arthur's Pass recording tho heaviest, ono of 470 points. Temperatures were still mild this morning, except where a southerly was blowing. 'Auckland's weather has* beeu unsettled and showery, with a moderate north-easterly to northerly wind. Wellington had mild and cloudy weather yesterday, a fresh northerly wind prevailing all day. This increased during the night and rain began to fall eai'ly this morning. Up to 9 a.m. today 20 points had been recorded at Kolbuni, but in the Hutfc Valley tho fall was much heavier, Lower Hutt recording 63 points. The weather this morning was still dull and threatening with a strong aud squally ■north-wes-terly wind. Christchurch had dull weather with a fresh north-easterly wind. There was little wind during tho night, and a light north-westerly was prevailing this morning with a clear sky. The weather in Dunedin yesterday morning was line, but the afternoon was dull, the wind being- a moderate north-cnstrrly.. This had changed to t.hn sonth-u-fst by this morning, but up to 9 a.m. no rstin had fallen.
