THEO'S SURPRISING PRICE

Theo's victory in the Caulfield Guineas last Saturday appears to have been much more sensational than would be expected in view of his A.J.C. Derby success. Pie was neglected in ihe betting and paid an astonishing dividend on the totalisator, besides which the starting price quoted by the bookmakers was also very large.

Probably the reason why Theo went out of favour was that M. MeCarten, who rode him to victory in the Derby, chose for his Guineas mount Sir John, also owned by Mr. E. Moss. MeCarten's judgment was astray, for whereas Theo performed brilliantly, giving J. M. O'Sullivan a lucky chance ride. Sir John ran badly.
