POLYDORA'S PERFORMANCE
Although Polydora had two races at the Grand National Meeting, she had not started again until she ran in the Teschemaker Handicap at the South Canterbury Meeting last Saturday. She had, however, made good progress in the interval (says the southern critic "Argus"), and she won in very impressive style. After -being near the tail of the field for half the journey she made a forward move, which landed her in front when the straight was reached. She had to meet a strong challenge from Sweet Agnes, but when given a kick ,she soon placed the issue beyond doubt.
Polydora will be sent to Trentham this' week, and two races, in which she should perform well, will bring her to her best for Riccarton engagements. There was great disappointment when she had to be withdrawn ir^ni the New- Zealand Cup last year, on account of leg trouble, but indications point to her playing a prominent p.irt in the two-mile race next month. She has plenty of. speed, and though she has not won beyond a mile and a quarter, she races like a mare who would experience no difficulty in goiiig any journey.
