ACCIDENT AFTER A DANCE

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

As tho result of a motor-car accident on the Sumner-Lyttelton Road on the night of September 29 after a dance at Sumner Phyllis Kent Plimmcr was fined £1, with costs, at Lyttelton today, for negligent driving. The police case rested on the fact that the car travelled on the wrong side of the road for 68ft before going over the embankment.

The defendant pleaded not guilty, and said that the engine was not functioning properly, and that the steering gear failed to act.
