UNSATISFACTORY PRICES
LOCAL FIXATION POLICY
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
CHEISTCHUECII, This Day
At the annual meeting of the Taitapu Dairy Company, the chairman, referring to internal competition in the dairy industry, said that during tile last few years of steadily falling prices the local market had proved attractive to the smaller factories, and "cuts" and rebates had brought about a most unsatisfactory state of affairs. When the fact was considered that owing to the fall from 107s to Css per cwt the local trade for the months of September, October, November, and December realised an. average of 2d per Hi higher than was obtained for export, the regrettable state of affairs on the local market could bo readily understood. The directors of the company had decided to revert to tho policy of fixing local price-levels strictly in conformity with f.o.b. spot values.
