CHANGES IN FAVOURITISM
Rogilla was extensively backed last week for the Caulfield Cup, and he was also coupled up with Peter Pan and Topical for the Melbourne Cup to such an extent that these doubles are now quoted as "specials," a position rarely occupied so early in the spring. Rogilla's race at the recent Warwick Farm Meeting apparently impressed his connections, when, after getting badly left, he finished close to the placed horses in the Warwick Stakes won by Chatham. Rogilla won the Caulfield I Cup two years ago under 7.12. This year he has 0.10. Following is last week's order of popularity for the two Cups and for the principal A.J.C. events:— CAULFIELD CUP. Rogilla. Hall Mark, Sir Simper. Kuvera, Nightly. Chatham, Limarch, Picatus, Silver Scorn. Golden Hair, Niiit dOr, Oro, Hyperion, Robert, MELBOURNE CUP. Peter Pan, Topical. Hall Mark. Broad Arrow, Nightly, Rogilla, Shadow King, Theo. Aztec, Charles Fox, Dark Sky, Limarch, Pasha, Robert, Sir Simper, Sir John, St. Valorey, Silver King, The Marne. EPSOM HANDICAP. Chatham. Closing Time, Golden Wings. Golden Hair, Silver Ring. Celebrate, Carefree, Canegrass, Kuvera, The Masquerader, Whittingham, Australia Fair. THE METROPOLITAN. Limarch, Topical, Nightly.
