(By Teleeraph —Press Association.)
ROTORTJA, September 4,
The death of Jack Ruru, the wellknown Maori representative footballer, who died following an injury received during the course of a Prince of Wales Cup match at Rotorua on Saturday, was the subject of an inquiry which was concluded before the Coroner (Mr. W. L. Richards), today. Medical evidence given by Dr. T. H. Jagusch was that Bum had received severe concussion and died from haemorrhage as a result. His injuries were quite consistent with his having received an injury in the course of the match. Returning a verdict of accidental death, tho Coroner said that the evidence disclosed that the match had been played in a friendly spirit, with no suggestion of unnecessarily rough, play. Considerable Native funeral ceremonial surrounded the removal of the body of the dead player from Ohinemut'u Pa. The body was claimed by relatives on Monday and taken by car to the deceased's home at Te Karaka, Gisborne, where a large tangi will be held. The body was accompanied by the Native Minister (Sir Apirana Ngata) and his private secretary, Mr. H. R. 11. Balneavis, himself a cousin of the deceased, together with other leaders of Rotorua and East^Coast tribes.
