PETONE CLUB'S MEETING
The annual meeting of the Petone Cricket Club was held last evening, Mr. W. S. Briee being in the chair.
Mr. Brice said the report was a good one. The teams did well in all the competitions, although winning none. Tlie report was a creditable one from a playing point of view. He was sorry to record the death of Mrs. G. Fairbairn. who had been a staunch worker for the club.
Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mrs. Fairbairn.
The secretary, Mr. J. O'Leary, said the club started the past season in debt, but the year was ended with a credit balance of £14.
Mr. Brice said this was one of the most satisfactory balance-sheets presented by the club in recent years. There were some outstanding subscriptions, but a number of players were out of work, and the club should cany these along for a time.
The annual report mentioned that in the senior team SI. F. Nicholls headed the batting averages, followed by W. S. Brice.
Mr. O'Leary intimated that ho would be away from Wellington for part of the time, and his resignation from the position of secretory was accepter! with regret. It was decided to place appreciation of his services on record.
The incoming committee was recommended- to consider the formation of a ladies' team in connection with the club.
