BHchener, the first Minister of the Crown to visit Marlborough since the' Cqalition Government took office, was accorded a warm reception at.every stop on his way up the coast today in heavy rain. Kaikoura deputations mainly . requested assistance for local facilities. ■' At Ward a deputation made out a case for the completion of formation work on the south Main Trunk railway by unemployed labour, it being pointed out that huts'and other.equipment for at least 1000 men were available on the job. '*'■'.' ' . '" ' .; '■ Seddon asked for assistance in th» provision- of the Awatere water scheme. Blenheim's main requests" were for the railway' and a new building for Marlborough College, which was described as a collection of shacks,'misfits, and temporary structures which wera a disgrace to the New Zealand educational system.
