(By Telegraph .—Press Association.) WHANGABEI, This Day. A drowning fatality occurred at Maungonui Bluff, in the ■ far north, fifty miles from Kaitaia, on Saturday evening. ilr. and. Mrs. Powell, with another woman and her' child, all of Takahue, wero on a short camping visit. As Mr. and Mrs. Powell were walking across a depression in the rocks on the shore a high wave suddenly swept in and overwhelmed them. Mr. Powell managed to cling to the rocks, but Mrs. Powell was carried away in the boiling surf. No trace of her has been discovered since, despite protracted searches last night. The deceased leaves four young children. Her parents reside in the Waikato district.
