LYALL BAY CLUB

The twenty-first annual report of the .Lyall Bay Club also records a satisfactory year. In reviewing the play of the past season, the directors congratulate members on the success of the club in championship honours during its twentyfirst birthday season, its most notable achievement being the winning of the Dominion rinks championship by A. Hastings, R. H. McKenzie, J. M. Brackenr ridge, and L. M. Naylor (s). Its other achievements were winning for the first occasion the centre rinks tournament, by AY. N. Mclntosh, J. P. O'Gorman, A. Hastings, and J. B. Lawrie (s); the champion of champions rink tournament by A. Raven, R. H. McKenzie, L. M. Naylor, and J. M. Brackenridge (s);and also the champion of champion pairs by G. AY. Bradley and F. G. Hazlewood (s). The club was also successful in winning the Stansell Shield, the Kean trophy, the senior pennant, and the Eastbourne one-day tournament, and were runners-up to Island Bay in the eastern' suburbs' tournament. The total playing strength at the end of the season was 70. Thanks are extended to officers and committees and to members who assisted in various ways in carrying out the work of the year and improving the property, and particular reference is made to the club's appreciation of the services given by Mr. R. H. McKenzie, the retiring president. The nominations for office are:—President, Mr. G. H. Noad; directors (two vacancies), Messrs. G. H. .Coleman and F. AY. Boyd; hon. secretary, Mr. B. C Cull; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. P. O'Gorman. Mr. Noad has given notice of intention to move: "That the'position of green superintendent be appointed at the annual meeting, and that all other motions (if any) be deleted." . Members will be requested to express an opinion as to the advisability of handing over the control of the eastern suburbs bowling tournament to the Wellington Centre. The directors advise that the control should remain as at present.
