PROPOSAL TO CLASSIFY

DIVISION OF "A" GRADE

An important variation is probable in the system under which the senior grades of the Wellington llugby Union's competitions will be conducted this season. The matter was discussed last' night at the first meeting of the (/Management Committee since its re-election at the annual general _ meeting, and although no definite decision was reached, the' committee expressed its desire to divide the A grade into two divisions according to the strength of the teams. Mr. J. Prendeville presided over a full attendance of members.

In calling for entries for the senior grades, which close at 5 p.m. on.April. 4, the committee is circularising clubs advising-thfem of." what it is proposed to do. In order to assist in classifying the teams, clubs will be asked to submit with their entries the names of the' probable 20 players from which each senior team will be selected. Some idea of the probable .strength of the teams as compared with last year is also requested. It is proposed to limit the first division of the A grade to a certain number of teams,: probably ten, and some of ; the stronger teams in the. B grade may. be promoted _in order to complete the second division. At its 'meeting on April 4 the committee; will endeavour to finalise the classifying of the teams. •

IN THE LOWER GRADES.

In regard to the lower grades/ entries for which close on April IS., clubs may enter teams for any division, but the committee will reserve the right to classify teams in the various grades. April 22 has been set aside as "Club Saturday," when I'rieudly matches will be played in aid of the club funds, and on the following Saturday, April 29, the season will commence ' officially ■in the senior grades and as many o£ the other grades as possible. • . Nominations for • the Junior. Advisory Committee must be in by April. 4. _ The sub-committees of the Management Committee will be the same as last year.
