STUNT FLYING

AERO CLUB'S, FINE SHOW

A splendid display was made by members of the 'Wellington Aero Club on Saturday afternoon, some of the events giving the erdwd thrills of the first order, particularly the "clog*fight" between Club Captain C. C. "Waite and Flight-Lieutenant-G. Bolt. Both pilots made a thorough job of it, and at the height at which, the mock fight was staged appeared to be running big risks. Mr. Waitc in duo time ''got right on the tail" of the other machine, the smoke bomb was touched off, and Mr. Bolt's aeroplane, after diving and swinging wildly, shot headlong for the sea and out of sight behind the hill beyond Moa Point. For a few minutes tho crowd looked anxiously for his return and began to be really worried until he came into the aerodrome from another direction. His exhibition of crazy flying later in the afternoon was really breath-taking. Mr. C. M. fouthic gave surprising exhibitions of upside down flying, rolling, tail, spinning, and other stunting, and with Messrs. M X Archibald and S. E, Moatchem demonstrated formation flying and the spectacular Prince of Wales feathers breakup. Bombing of a ear and an exhibition of glider flying were also interesting items. With the exception of Flight-Lieutenant Bolt, all the pilots participating in these and other items' were club-trained pilots, and their work was of a. very high order indeed.

Sir Charles will leave in the Southern Cross for Dannevirke at 10.30 a m tomorrow.
