OPINIONS OF THE PRESS
LONDON, 20th July. l The opening of what "The, Times" describes as' the most momentous Conference in tho history of the British nations is the subject of many editorials. Several dwell,on the significance of the first meeting of the confederation of nations since the Statute of Westminster embodied in,legal form the previous declaration of equal status. "The Times" says: "One stage of development is thus completed, and the way is opened for the next, namely, active co-operation on terms of perfect oquality in a continuous effort to promote common prosperity. The Conference dare not fail. If it did it-would end all hope iof discovering a way out of the present distress.' Unless Ottawa succeeds the projected world conferonce is foredoomed to failure." '
