NOTES FROM THE CLUBS
PETONE LADIES' OPENING
(By "Aperture.")
" The "Evening Post" Club had a particularly enjoyable evening last Tuesday night, when several members of the Port Nicholson Ladles' Club", paid a 'visit for a friendly shoot. The visitors were outnumbered, so teams were selected by Miss Foy, captain of the
Port Nicholson Ladies" Club, and Miss Knell. Miss Foy's team 'was succesful by the comfortable margin of 22 points. Only one of the competitors scored possible honours, Mr. Marshall, of tlie "Post" team; otherwise the scor-
Ing of the "Evening Post" Club does not yet show sufficient form to merit the selection of a -team for the Osmond Shield shoot.
A ten-shot competition is to be arranged this week, as practice for both new and old members. Members of the club are reminded
that next week the shooting night will bi changed from Tuesday to Wednesday for ■ thi remainder of the season.

It is hoped' shortly' to have billiards, table tennis, quoits, and cards all in- full swing to , add to the enjoyment of the evenings. The mound was found .to be very comfortable, and the target lighting excellent. Several more new members put in an appearance, so that prospects are bright for a very successful season. A new- member, McNeil, under the able tuition of the, club coach, Mr. Hands, succeeded in putting up ; the good -score of '95 for his1 first shoot with the miniature rifle. -As a result of the increase in membership it is anticipated that the:.committee will shortly have another club rifle available. This should prove a boon to the "younger members. Top scores for the evening were recorded by Hands and Porter, 98 each. R. Drake was next with 96. The popular score for the evening seemed to be 95. In all some 30 shoots were put through, but with the facilities now at the club's disposal, this number could be almost doubled.
