BOWLING

SEATOUN CLUB

A most enjoyable social evening marked the close of the bowling season at the Seatoun Club last Saturday evening. Between 60 and 70 members and friends sat down to tastefully decorated tables. The floral decorations carried out;by the ladies were extremely effective, consisting oE a harmonious scheme of marigolds and chrysanthemums. )>

Mr. W. L. Page/president "of the club, presided, and associated -syith-liira were Mr. H. G. Mayer, of the Wellington Centre, and Mr. S. M. Stone.' Among the guests were Mr. J. Kershaw, treasurer of the centre, Mr. F. D. ?Kean, Mr. R.. McKenzie, presidents o£ the Hataitai anxl Lyall Bay Clubs. Mr. Chegwidden, of Xevtowh Club, was also present as representative of the club. . A very enjoyable evening of toasts ami songs, interspersed with choruses Was passed, a special feature being the numbers rendered by an admirable quartet party.. A Maori visitor sang two Maori numbers, which Vere' also; much, appreci■ated./' V ;;; ' ■' " '' ' ■'■.■' ■

During the evening the prizes won in the- club's competitions -were, presented by Mr. Mayer,-while Mr. Chegwidden presented the trophy competed for in a series of triangular matches between Seatoun, Newtown, -and Hataitai clubs;- This trophy,■' presented by Mr. W. L. Page, remains in /the possession, of the Seatoiin Club, the first winner, until next season. Small silver cups were presented to the winners'of the various club-competitions, as follows:—Champion singles, C.: B. Ellis; champion pairs, J. Glennie, B. Henry, (s); champion rinks, K. Henry, U. McCabe, C. Ellis, S. Stone (s); Labour Day tourney. ■ J. Nicol,. W. Usher, C. Wyatt, C. Bell, (s); Barnett >pairs, J. Gordon and W. L. Page; junior singles. J.
