FALSE RUMOURS
NO CLASH IN SYDNEY - MUCH SICKNESS REPORTED For some days past there have been rumours in circulation in the city of serious trouble in Sydney and of many people, hurt in the streets, but there is no foundation for such alarming statements. "Apparently rumours have become current in_ Wellington that there has been conflict in Sydney between the New Guard and the police, but they are without foundation," said Mr. S. W. M. Stilling the representative- in New Zealand of the Australian National Travel Association, to-day. "Such rumours may have arise"n from a wireless message received to the effect that Sydney hospitals were filled to overflowing, but the message should have continued 'owing to the abnormal number of eases of sickness, due no doubt to privations suffered on account of unemployment, so that some hospitals have had to refuse even serious cases. ( Some hospitals are employing garden benches, as makeshift beds."
