DISAPPOINTING PLAY
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") | AUCKLAND, Ist January. The finals of the Auckland tennis championships weie played to-day in perfect weather. Theie were no surprises, play in both singles and doubles being erratfc and disappointing. Not one of the leading men was fit for <i five-set match played all the way <it top t,peed. Smashing and lobbing seem to be a lost art. The, following are the results:— Men's Singles. Bartleet beat Sturt, 64, 6-1, i-6, 6-2. Women's SingleE. Miss Marjoiie MacfarUne beat Miss B. Knight, 6-2, 63. ''..Men's .Doubles. Barileet and Laurenson beat Griffiths and Sturt, 9-7, 6-3, 6-4. Women's Doubles. Misses Macfarlane beat Misses Eccles and Potter, 7-5, 64. -'Combined Doubles. Sturt and Miss Marjorie Macfarlane beat Turner and Miss Whitelaw, 4-6, 6 3, ,6r3.
