RANGATIRA'S PICTON TRIP

exceptionally fast steaming on her Pieton excursion trip yesterday.

The Rangatira left Picton at 2.47 p.m., and slowed down oS the "Wellington wharves shortly after 5 p.m. She was ber'hed in fifteen minutes after rounding Point Halswell.

The Rangatira made up to 24 knots iv the smooth water of Queen Charlotte Sound and Tory Channel. She completed the return trip of 52 miles in a. little more than- 130 minutes, at an average speed of 23J knots.

On a trial run in England, the Bangatira attained a speed of 22J knots over a measured mile.
