CATCH CRIES
'SAFETY VERSUS SOCIALISM
A warning to his audience not to be side-stepped this -election by political catch cries or bogey-men was given by Mr. R. Seniple, Labour candidate for Wellington East, at Kilbiruie last night. He reminded them of the 1D25 slogans, "Coates and Confidence," "The Man Who Gets Things Bone," and in the process of getting things done, he had done the nation, declared Mr. Somple. In 1028, it was the £70,000,000 slogan. In 1931, their slogan appeared to be "Safety Versus Socialism. ''
Mr. Semple declared that there was never a time in the history of New Zealand when there was less safety for tho great mass of tho people, and thero teas- never a time when thero was no much ' penury and want. "Famine stalks this fair land of ours to-day," ho said, "not due to the political control of the Labour Party, but definitely • due to the control of the Reform and Uinted Partins."
