MR. WRIGHT AT MORNINGTON

A large meeting of electors at Mornington was addressed last night by the Coalition candidate for Wellington Suburbs, Mr. R. A. Wright. Some hostility to tho candidato was shown by a section of the audience, but generally he received an -attentive hearing.

Mr. Wright referred to the serious state of the public finances, and urged the need for stability in government. He said the farming industry was the most vital in the Dominion, and the Coalition Government was determined to do its utmost to place it on a sound, basis. There might be a feeling in tho cities that the fanner was being pampered, but. the townspeople iiad to realise that their prosperity was wrapped up with tho prosperity of tho fanner. It was essential that tho farmer should be kept on the land. In his opinion use should be made of the Native lands of the Dominion, although ho agreed that the Natives should be given sufficient land to farm themselves. Production would have to be increased, for he was certain that they would never see again the fancy prices they had received for their produce after the war and up to tho time of the depression. The candidato criticised tho borrowing policy of the Labour Party, and said it would nof, lead to prosperity.
