"SUICIDAL IMMIGRATION"

Mr. T. Brindle, the Labour candidate for Wellington Suburbs, and Mr. P. Fraser, addressed a large gathering at tho Aro street tram terminus last night. Mr. I. Griffiths presided. Mr. Frascr1 outlined the measures brought before Parliament since the return of Mr. Forbes from the Imperial Conference, and said that practically the whole of the Government's legislation hit the poorer section of the community the hardest. Mr. Brindle described the immigration policies of both the Reform and United Governments as suicidal, and said that they had seriously aggravated the- unemployment problem in the Dominion. In opposition to a policy of drift, the Labour Party put forward a programme of construction which would give hope to the people and return the country to stable conditions.
