WORSER BAY SWIMMING CLUB
.The twenty-first anuual general meeting of the Worser Bay Swimming and Live-saving Club was held on Thursday, Mr. W. 11. Gerrie, presiding over a large attendance. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. R. Semple, M;P.; president, Mr. W. H. Gerrie; vice-presi-dents, Messrs.'A. C. Kitto, A.' D. Crawford, S. T. Silver, J. Brodie, J. A. Duffy, H. Rowntree, G. R. Green, G. Charman, C. Dempsey, C. T. Bell, C. S. Holt, V. L. Allan, J. Jaroieson, P. M. Blakeney, B. Scotland, P. T. Warring, P. Wilton, T. Bedford, and J. Gendall, and Captain G. T. T. Hull; club captain, Mr. J. W. Newport; deputy-captain, Mr. A. Hepburn; hon. secretary, Mr. K. Wilton; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. J. Warring; executive committee, Messrs.: V. L. Allan (chairman), J. Ames, E. P. White, T. Rowell, E. Bellman, G. Bell; lady superintendent, Mrs. Heath; hon. auditors, Messrs. S. T. Silver and G. R. Green; delegates to Swimming Centre, Messrs. W. H. Gerrie, F. Wilton, and A. Hepburn; delegates to Royal Life-saving Society, Messrs. J. W. Newport and E. White. The prospects for the ensuing season were regarded as very bright, and judgini* by the keenness shown at the meeting the club should be able to maintain its record of the previous season, which was one of its best. , ' ', A motion that the ladies' branch of the club be discontinued was defeated. The retiring secretary, Mr. J. W. Newport, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his services during the past three years. Several members spoke in gloveing terms of his work.
