A complaint that it was not fair to ask Parliament to consider the taxation proposals of tho Government in connection with unemployment without the whole of the Budget proposals being placed before members was voiced in the House of Representatives last night by the Reform member for MidCanterbury (Mr. D. Jones). Mr. Jones said that the Bill should not have been brought down until the whole of the Budget proposals were ready for submission to the House. It was not fair to ask the House to deal with taxation in sections, and the only reason why they might be pushed into supporting the measure was its .urgency. Mr. P. Langstone (Labour, Waimarino): "Don't you be pushed, Davey." (Laughter.) Mr. Jones said that the House was being asked to place £2,500,000 iv the hands of the board, the personnel of which they.did not know. The Government's policy should be in front of members.
