HIS SOCIALISTIC DAYS.
"Have you ever heard of .the Fisher scheme?", queried Mr. Clyde Carr (Labour, Timaru) in the House of Representatives last night, when Mr. E. A. Wright (Reform, . Wellington Suburbs) was discussing the ' wages question.
"Yes," Mr. Wright replied, "but it has never been tried yet. It is like Socialism. It is all very beautiful when you read it in books, but when, you come to put it into operation, as they did in Russia and in South America, it fails."
Mr. W. E. Parry (Labour, Auckland Central):- "Is that why you changed?"
Mr. Wright: "I changed because I have gained more sense."
Mr. W. J. Jordan (Labour, Manukan): "You must have been pretty bad before."
Mr. Wright: "Many young men make tho mistako of thinking that Socialism is going to change the whole world, but Iqter on they find that it won't work."
Mr. Parry: "You never said that when you were on the soap box."
Mr. R. Semplo (Labour, Wellington East): "You had the bug pretty bad."
