READJUSTMENTS MADE
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
KELSON, Sth July. Owing to the continued decline of the traffic on'tho Nelson'section of the railway, it has been found necessary for the Department. to eit'ect further economies on the operating expenses, and with that object in view it has been decided to close down the locomotive depot at Gleuhope and work the ser.vice' with crews at Belgrave and Nelson. This has involved an adjustment of. the time-table. With the removal of the locomotive depot at Glenhope, the working of goods traffic over the Glenhope to Kawatiri section will be abandoned. This, however, will not affect the present, contracts for tho carriage of through goods to Murchison, which contracts will operate t* the end of their term from Glenhope instead of from Kawatiri.
Last night the Nelson Amateur Operatic Society, iv their fifth performance iv the district, played the English comedy "Tilly of Bloomsbury" at the Majestic Theatre, the proceeds being in aid of the Nelson Relief Fund for the relief of distress.
