PONED
Mr. W. B. Hicks presided over a meeting of the "Wellington Football Association held last evening. ' There were present: Messrs. J. J. Kean, G. Aers, J. M. Coleman, H. Power, C. B. Fittes, W. Fraser, H. Spolsky, and B. A. Mabin (secretary). A letter from' the New Zealand Council stated that the Canterbury Association had notified that it was impossible for a team to come to play for the Football Association's Trophy on 18th July. Otago had notified to the same effect. The only dates at present suitable were the Ist, Sth, and '22nd. On Ist August Canterbury were playing Westland, so the council was trying to arrange for the Otago challenge to be played first. Both Otago and Canterbury, wished to be notified of a later date suitable for the trophy game. A registered player of ..the Waterside. Club who played on two occasions for W.Y.M.I, when picked for the.Waterside Club was called upon'to appear before the association next Wednesday. A referee reported tliat in tlie recent match between Brooklyn .Reserves' and Trentham Reserves he had cautioned two players for threatening each other. Later their play *became violent and he ordered them off- - The players were asked to appear before the committee,'but only one attended. He: stated that there, was no malice in the incidents and he was very surprised when ordered off. NO further action was taken. The other player is to be suspended till he appears. before the committee. . .' : ' The Rugby Union expressed appreciation of' the association's action in allowing, it the use of three. grounds on the Lyall Bay Reserve. On, Saturday, Institute and Corinthian second division, teams will play at the Hutt Park racecourse instead: of Anderson Park. The No. 2 ground.at Anderson Park is not available. ....
