STIPENDS OF THE CLERGY
A request, was made by the Rev. W. Tye at tho meeting of the Anglican Synod last evening for permission to move that the' stipends; of : ministers, in the diocese bo reduced .by 10 per cent. ft
The chairman of the finance committee, Mr. G. Shirtclift'e, said it would be 'well to wait until the . committee had brought down its report.
Mr. Tyo said he wished ,t(' move the resolution with the sole purpose of assisting the finance committee. Now that it was known that they wero iiot going to receive as much as in the .past, they could not ask the parishioners to make it up.
Mr. J. W. Henderson asked who said the clergy were not going to get as much as in the past.
Bishop Sprott remarked that the Key. Mr. Tye apparently knew some things that were not.
It was agreed that the matter be left over until after the finance committee brought down'its.report,this afternoon.
