SALVATION ARMY BAZAAR
The annual bazaar at the Salvation Army Young Women's Hostel on Church street, was opened by Sirs. Hislop, the Mayoress, on Saturday afternoon. Sirs. Hislop, who was accompanied by the Mayor, was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Commissioner Cunningham, wife of the Territorial Commander. The Mayor and Mayoress made a tour of inspection of the institution under the guidance'of Adjutant Day, the matron, and expressed their appreciation of the splendid accommodation provided for young business women. Three stalls were, in operation at which fancy goods and articles of clothing were sold, the proceeds going towards the upkeep of the hostel. At the quarterly concert recently given at the hostel, Brigadier Harewood presided, and a splendid programme was given by the young ladies resident there. Some good vocal musical items were given by visiting officers, bandsmen,. and songsters.
